The Institute of Anatomy belongs to the medical faculty of the university of Bern. Its scope of duties comprise preclinical teaching in human, dentist and veterinary medical curricula as well as in many other paramedical fields. Research topics include base science in the fields of skeletal and smooth muscle, the lung and its development, particle interactions in the lung, stereology and others.

We are proud to share that two members of the Djonov’s team were recognized for their contributions at the Flash Radiotherapy and Particle Therapy (FRPT) 2024 conference in Rome the past December. Dr. Verdiana Trappetti was honoured with the Best Abstract Award and Dr. Cheuk Ting Wu received the Best Poster Presentation Award. Congratulations to both for their well-deserved success and their commitment to advancing the field of radiation therapy and precision medicine.

MIRACLE Project Wins Major Research Grant

The Institute of Anatomy is delighted to announce that Dr. Cristian Fernández has secured together with Radio-oncology Inselspital and Radio-oncology CHUV as co-applicants a prestigious CHF 1.8 million Multidisciplinary Project research grant from the SNSF for the groundbreaking project "MIRACLE: MIcrobeam Radiotherapy – paradigm change in Clinical cancer treatment". We congratulate the team and wish them great success in this endeavor!
